If anyone had every similar problem or knows how to deal with such an amount of data in a simple way please give me a shout!īasic Questions About Local File Storage in OS Catalina Folks, please be patient with me. Am I doing something wrong or is Apple support so utterly useless? The image I attach is from only 4 GB of data zip that was prepared by Apple and in each of the iCloud Drive folder I have many subfolders from Desktop with just a few photos from each folder. Not only that, but some of the folders came up empty! I know that I haven't donwloaded all of the 130gb yet, but trying to find my files in thousands subfolders sounds like mad man work! Does anyone have similar issues and have any solutions to that? I really can't believe that the whole process is so complicated and impossible for the user to be able to get sorted without tons of frustrating moves. It means many hours of trying to pair the folders with the same names and sorting it out. That means A LOT of downloading and moving the images from one folder to another till I will complete them with all the photos that initially been in the iCloud folders. When I got my firs batch of zip files I realised that Apple didn't bother putting the full folders of photos, but just a few individual images in each folder, meaning I will have multiple folders to download with just a few photos from each folder to put back together. I have requested maximum download folder to be 10 Gb. Yesterday, I received the email that my files are ready. It's around 130 GB of folders with photographs. After trying to find a solution I asked for my iCloud Drive data to be prepared for me by Apple to download. As I am a photographer, the folders I am talking about have a significant amount of Gb. Therefore I found myself in a situation where my files are only on iCloud and I can't move them to a new hard drive directly from my desktop, before waiting for it to download first from the iCloud Drive. I'm quite fresh to Mac community, so I never thought I will need to untick the box in Settings for Apple to not upload my files to iCloud from my Desktop folder. I requested data from my iCloud Drive from Apple Support when I realised that files and folders with photos that I have uploaded to my Mac book are actually stored only on iCloud Drive, not on my actual Mac book. I hope to get some solutions or answers to the way iCloud works as it drives me crazy and feels so complicated to actually get everything sorted.
